After all, if you don’t want to be in a relationship with someone anymore, you should end it with them before moving on to something else, right?

However, that doesn’t stop those who decide to be unfaithful from doing so. And, according to a Survey By Ashley Madison, people who hold these 12 jobs are more likely to be guilty of stepping out.

Cheats

1. MEN: TRADES SUCH AS CONSTRUCTION, WELDING, MECHANICS, ETC.

According to survey respondents, 29% of men who cheat work in one of these fields. This is likely because of the lack of consistent work hours makes it easier for them to get away with it.

According to Isabella Mise, Director of Communications at Ashley Madison. “Jobs in trades often mean irregular hours and are often structured in shift work meaning it’s easier for men to fly under the radar when it comes to sneaking around with an affair partner,” she explained.

2. WOMEN: DOCTORS OR NURSES

DOCTORS

A whopping 23% of female cheaters surveyed work in the medical field, which makes sense, I guess. “A combination of long hours of potential stress mixed with a natural reaction to stress just might be the reason these women in the medical profession seek out an affair,” Mise said.

3. MEN: I.T.

About 12% of male cheaters surveyed work in I.T. fields such as development, coding, and software engineering.

4. WOMEN: EDUCATION

The second most common profession for female cheaters was teaching, which made up 12% of respondents.

It’s unclear why this field in particular is so rife with infidelity. Perhaps because teachers come in contact with a lot of parents/potential cheating partners?

5. MEN AND WOMEN: ENTREPRENEURS

The third most popular cheating profession for both men and women was an entrepreneur.

The survey suggested this may be because people in this field “are likely to take charge of their sex life the way they do their business, which seems a bit of a stretch, but whatever.

6. MEN: RETAIL AND HOSPITALITY

About 8% of men who admitted cheating in the survey reportedly work in hospitality fields as bartenders, waiters, baristas, etc.

I suppose PR people go to a lot of social events which provide a lot of opportunities for infidelity?

12. MEN: MEDICAL

Only 5% of men working as doctors, nurses, or other positions in the medical field reportedly cheated according to the survey, which is pretty good odds, I suppose (but still far too high).

13. WOMEN: I.T.

This group made up 8% of female cheaters.
